Lee and Reagan students awarded at journalism convention

Lee High School and Reagan High School won several awards at the Texas Association of Journalism Educators Convention held here in San Antonio.  Lee High School won third place sweepstakes for the second year in a row with 17 Individual awards and two team awards.  Reagan High School won eight individual awards. 

Lee's Traveler Yearbook was named second in small books, and the Montage Literary Magazine also won second.  Individually for Lee, Paula Wolf won four awards including Excellence in Portfolio, Excellent in Yearbook Photography and Architecture and Superior in People Photography. Jesus Arreaga won three awards: Superior in Portfolio, Excellent in People Photography and Honorable Mention in Open Photography.  Rainebow Garza won an Excellent in Architecture Photography and an Excellent in Open Photography. Guillermo Gutierrez won an Excellent in Computer-Aided Design and an Excellent in Photo Manipulation.  Also winning Superiors were Sadie Dominguez in Photo Manipulation and Sarel Zuniga in Newspaper Feature Page Design, while Katie Rivera earned an Excellent in Broadcast Writing.  Earning an Honorable Mention Rating were Mario Ramon in Editorial Illustration, Rochelle Reyes in Action Photography and Patty Gonzalez in Open Photography.

Individually for Reagan, Melissa Rogers won Superior for Editorial Writing; earning Excellents were Marissa Whitworth for Basic Yearbook Design and Marlaina Crossan for Action Photography.  Honorable Mention winners were Natasha Sankovich in Photography Portfolio, Nicolas Sabin for Architecture Photography and Taste of San Antonio Photography, Megan Anguiano and Courtney Hubert for Yearbook Theme Package and Reed Hartman for People Photography.
