Construction Update: weeks away from opening first direct connector

We are now in our 15th month of construction and weeks away from opening one of four direct connectors. Construction updates through this Wednesday are posted below.

US 281 roadway closures

US 281 Southbound frontage lanes from Loop 1604 to Donella will be closed nightly Monday, August 6 - Wednesday, August 8 from 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. Construction crews will place deck panels for the east to south direct connector. Expect Delays. As work is completed, lanes will reopen to traffic. Traffic traveling US 281 southbound frontage lanes will be detoured at the US 281/Loop 1604 intersection to Sonterra and take the US 281 southbound main lanes.

US 281 Southbound right frontage lane from Loop 1604 to Donella will be closed daily beginning Tuesday, August 7 - Friday, August 10 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Crews will place a new drainage line.

Loop 1604 roadway closures

Loop 1604 Eastbound right frontage lane from Stone Oak to US 281 will be closed Monday, August 6 - Wednesday, August 8 from 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. This work is to remove and place surface asphalt.

Loop 1604 Eastbound various frontage lane closures over the US 281 bridge Monday, August 6 from 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. One lane will always be open for traffic.

Loop 1604 Westbound right frontage lane from Stona Oak to Blanco will be closed Monday, August 6 - Wednesday, August 8 from 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. Work is to remove and replace surface asphalt.

Loop 1604 Westbound main lanes at US 281 will be closed Monday, August 6 from 11 p.m. - 3 a.m Detour: Traffic will use the US 281 exit and reenter at the Stone Oak entrance ramp. This closure is to place equipment.

Loop 1604 Eastbound main lanes from Stone Oak to Gold Canyon will be closed nightly beginning Sunday August 5 - Thursday, August 9 from 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. This work is to drill and place illumination foundations. Detour: Traffic will be detoured to the Loop 1604 Eastbound frontage lanes
