Numerous road closures scheduled in week ahead

The US 281 / Loop 1604 interchange is definitely taking shape, but crews will once again be closing several roads and lanes in the area to place more steel beams or complete other tasks.  The most significant closure will be on the southbound 281 frontage road.  All lanes will be closed south of Loop 1604 from Friday, June 29 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 2.  Motorists traveling on the 281 frontage road will have to detour to the Loop 1604 frontage roads.  

At 9 p.m. Sunday, the above closure will be extended to include the frontage lanes under the Loop 1604 bridge as well as the Loop 1604 eastbound frontage lanes.  Heavy delays are to be expected.  The entire frontage road is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.

Other closures are as follows:

From 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, July 2 and Tuesday, July 3, all main lanes of southbound Hwy 281 will be closed.  Traffic will exit at Sonterra and may reenter Hwy 281 at the entrance ramp just south of Donella.    

The left main lane of eastbound Loop 1604 will be closed from Huebner to US 281 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. June 29-July 6.   

The right main lane of eastbound Loop 1604 will be closed from US 281 to Gold Canyon from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday, June 29 through Monday, July 2. This closure is to remove excavation from the project site.

All main lanes of westbound Loop 1604 Westbound will be closed at US 281 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, July 1 and Monday, July 2, 2012. This closure is to place deck panels and form the bridge.   Motorists will have to use the US 281 exit and may return to Loop 1604 at the entrance ramp before Stone Oak Parkway. 

The right frontage lane of eastbound Loop 1604 will be closed from Stone Oak to Sterling Brown from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, July 2 through Friday, July 6. This closure is to construct sidewalks.

The eastbound Loop 1604 bridge over US 281 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, July 2 through Friday, July 6.  Construction crews will weld steel beams for the direct connectors. Traffic will be detoured to the southbound 281 frontage road to the turnaround at Donella.  Motorists can then use the US 281 northbound frontage lanes to return to eastbound Loop 1604.

Various lane closures are to be expected on the eastbound Loop 1604 frontage road between Stone Oak and Gold Canyon from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, July 2 through Friday, July 6.  This closure is to construct sidewalks.

Various lane closures are also expected on the westbound Loop 1604 frontage road between 281 and Stone Oak from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, July 2 through Friday, July 6. This closure is to construct sidewalks.

The Loop 1604 eastbound entrance ramp from Stone Oak remains closed for the next three weeks.  Traffic must use the Loop 1604 eastbound entrance ramp near Gold Canyon.

No construction activity is scheduled for Wednesday, July 4.
