Globetrotters happily challenge Johnson students

Johnson High School

The Harlem Globetrotters will compete against Johnson High School students in a series of non-basketball related challenges later this week.  Part of Howard Johnson’s annual Give Happy Challenge benefiting the Starlight Children’s Foundation, this exciting event will be held before the entire student body Thursday afternoon.

The Give Happy Challenge is currently happening across the country at schools recognized for outstanding community service.  NEISD’s Johnson High, located near TPC Parkway and Bulverde Road, was chosen in part for its annual holiday toy drive and a 2011 student-led fundraiser for victims of the Bastrop fires.

Students competing against the Globetrotters Thursday will be attempting to win a $2,500 cash prize for Johnson High. All participants will receive complimentary tickets to an official Globetrotters show.

The Harlem Globetrotters – America’s beloved exhibition basketball team -- will also perform many of their signature tricks during Thursday’s event and meet roughly 20 children assisted by the local Starlight Children’s Foundation.   Dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses, the Starlight Foundation provides entertainment, education and family activities to help children cope with a prolonged illness.
