Video board finally installed at Heroes Stadium

The new video board system at North East ISD’s newest athletic complex has been successfully installed.  On June 30, the video board was given its first test under typical game-type conditions.

The video board is 15 feet by 25 feet and part of the scoreboard at Heroes Stadium. The scoreboard design provided the ability to add the video board plus advertising panels. The video board and advertising panels are fully paid for by private advertising funds. Additionally, the video board system will generate revenue back to the district once advertising goals are met.

Comalander Stadium at Blossom Athletic Center will have a similar system, including the structure, video board, scoreboard and sound system, also funded by private advertising dollars through Daktronics Sports Marketing. Both will be ready for use at the first NEISD football games in the fall. The video board at Heroes Stadium is currently the largest system at any public school district facility in South Texas.

Due to the slowdown of the economy, advertising dollars by private businesses decreased which prevented the video board from being installed for the 2009-2010 school year.

Heroes Stadium was built and approved by voters under the 2007 Bond program. Construction began in 2008, and the stadium opened for its first football game in August 2009.
