281 Super Street construction update

Hwy 281
Motorists can anticipate nightly lane closures on Hwy 281 Sunday, Aug. 8 through Thursday, Aug. 12 due to continuing construction of the Super Street. However, the widening of the center median on the westbound side of Encino Rio is finally complete and no lane closures on that road are expected this week.

The Alamo Regional Mobility Authority, which is heading the Super Street project, apologizes for any delays the public may encounter during this phase of construction and urges motorists to find alternate travel routes to avoid lane closures when possible.

Weather permitting, the contractor plans to tackle the following projects this week:

Intersection of Hwy 281 and Evans Road (northbound and southbound lanes)
Crews will begin placing curb at the turnarounds north and south of Evans Road between 9:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.  Single lane closures in both directions will be required.  Signalization work continues, but is expected to be completed this month.

Hwy 281 and Marshall Road (northbound and southbound lanes)
Crews will continue to widen the center median of Hwy 281 north and south of Marshall Road.  The inside lane on both sides of Hwy 281 will be closed between 9:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.  Crews will continue concrete rail work on the u-turns north and south of Marshall Road between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.  No traffic will be affected.

Hwy 281 and Stone Oak
Crews will continue to widen the center median of Hwy 281 north and south of Stone Oak Parkway. The inside lane of southbound Hwy 281 will be closed between 9:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. A detour of northbound lanes will continue to be in effect to allow for work on the turnarounds north and south of Stone Oak.
