Bush eighth-grader wins regional spelling bee

Jared Urbina, an eighth-grader at Bush Middle School, was named the winner of Saturday’s 57th Annual San Antonio Express-News Regional Spelling Bee. The 14-year-old will go on to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. June 2-4.
Urbina advanced to Saturday’s Regional competition after winning a campus-wide spelling bee at Bush Middle School earlier this year. Other 2010 campus spelling bee winners from area schools include Aiden Mullins from Canyon Ridge Elementary, Bethany Brown from Encino Park Elementary, Max Fang from Tejeda Middle School, Ashton Motes from Hardy Oak Elementary, Abhijit Rao from Lopez Middle School and Adam Hirani from Stone Oak Elementary.
