Jerry Comalander inducted to San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame
The San Antonio Sports Foundation has named NEISD's Executive Director of Athletics Jerry Comalander to the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame. Comalander was chosen for his outstanding contribution to the sports community and his accomplishments in the district. He will be honored at the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame Tribute on February 15, 2008 in the Alamodome.
Comalander has more than 40 years of experience in education. He was a high school head coach of various sports for 27 years and has been an athletic director for 17 years. He became the head football coach at Churchill High School in 1975, and during his 15 years at the school compiled a 125-28-3 record. His 1976 team went undefeated (15-0) and won the Class 4A, now 5A, State Championship.
Sports Hall of Fame Tribute tickets are $125 per person, and tables may be purchased for $10,000, $5,000, $2,500, or $1,500, and proceeds benefit the Sports Foundation’s youth initiatives. Sponsors for the event are the San Antonio Sports Foundation, City of San Antonio and San Antonio Express-News.
