TxDOT Diverts IH 35 Traffic at FM 1327 From May 9-12, 2008

The weekend of May 9-12, 2008,   TxDOT will shut down IH 35’s northbound and southbound main lanes and divert traffic to the access roads to place steel girder sections for Bridge #3 of the SH 45 Southeast - IH 35 direct connector.   The first closure will begin at 9 p.m. Friday night as engineers divert traffic from the IH 35 southbound lanes to the access road. Two lanes of IH 35 traffic will be diverted to the southbound access road through the FM 1327 intersection and back on to the IH 35 main lanes at the next entrance ramp just north of Main Street in Buda.

TxDOT Engineer Don Nyland says “Once the main half of the structure is up over the southbound lanes, we will close off northbound IH35 to hang the second half of the steel structure.”  Beginning Saturday morning, traffic will be diverted from the northbound main lanes onto the northbound access road.  Two lanes of traffic will be diverted to the northbound exit ramp through the FM 1327 intersection and back on to the northbound main lanes at the next entrance ramp to IH 35.

The FM 1327 crossover bridge at IH 35 will be closed to traffic. Motorists on the northbound access road can use Onion Creek Parkway as a turnaround to head south. Southbound motorists on the access road can use FM 2001 in Buda as a turnaround to head north.

The IH 35 - SH 45 Southeast interchange will reopen by 5:00 A.M. Monday morning

BUDA CLOSURE

In Buda, the east and westbound lanes under the bridge at Main St. will be closed.  Traffic on the southbound access road will detour through the Main St intersection with an option to go right. The left turn lane to Main St. will be closed. Eastbound Main St. traffic on the west side of IH 35 will be diverted to the southbound access road.

Traffic on the southbound access road will be routed to FM 2001, which drivers can use as a turn around to get back to the northbound access road.

The Main Street Interchange in Buda will reopen by 5:00 A.M. Monday morning
