Construction Update: December 6-10, 2012

US 281 Northbound mainlanes from Donella to Sonterra will be closed December 4-7, 2012 from 10 PM to 5 AM. This closure is necessary to remove surface asphalt. Detour: Traffic will be detoured at the Donella exit ramp and follow the detour signs back to US 281.
SAFD Rescue Squads Excel at Urban Shield Competition

San Antonio Fire Department's Rescue 11 and Rescue 51 squads competed against municipal, regional and federal teams from ten other agencies in the Urban Search and Rescue portion of the Urban Shield Exercise in Austin over the weekend.
Adopt - Friends Can't Be Bought

Stone Oak families looking for that special furry friend under the tree can come to the Howliday Party this Saturday, December 8, 2012. This adoption party is located at Litfetime Fitness at The Rim from 11:00am to 4:00pm. There will be over 200 pets looking for loving homes this Saturday. Pet information booths will be readily available for any questions you may have. To keep things in the hoilday spirit, Santa Claus will be making a surprise visit to help find homes for these San Antonio pets!
NEISD Named District of the Year

North East ISD earned the prestigious honor of being named to the Advanced Placement District Honor Roll by the AP College Board. NEISD is the only district in San Antonio to receive this recognition, and only 11 others in the entire state accomplished this feat.

US 281 Roadway Closures
New - US 281 Southbound left main lane from Loop 1604 to Henderson Pass will be closed November 29, 2012 from 10:00p.m. through 12:00p.m. This closure is necessary to allow crews to paint and adjust traffic barriers.
US 281 Southbound main lanes - right two lanes - from Sonterra to Donella will be closed on November 28-30, 2012 from 10:00p.m. until 5:00a.m nightly. This is to allow crews to place drainage and retaining walls in this area.
2013 Rate Increase Proposed by SAWS

San Antonio Water System provides residents with one of the lowest water and sewer bills in the state. The water and sewer system is in need of new supplies, infrastructure renewal and other system improvements. There is a 9.9 percent net rate increase proposed for 2013, and SAWS officials are working hard to inform all customers on where their money is being spent.
Santa Visits Frost Bank This Saturday!

The Stone Oak Frost Bank location is spreading the holiday spirit this Saturday December 1st from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Santa is making a special trip to Stone Oak to visit, take pictures and give gifts. Guests will enjoy complimentary christmas cookies and hot coffee while they wait for Santa to arrive. There will be a spectacular Christmas tree that is perfect for photo opportunities in the "Frost Room." This living-room-like setting will be decorated to the tee with bright lights and red and green galore!
Johnson Band Kicks Off Fund Raising for Prestigious Selection

Claudia Taylor "Lady Bird" Johnson High School is the newest school in the Northeast School District. Established in 2008, the award winning band has put Johnson on the map at a national level. With dedicated band directors and over 200 members, the Jaguars have received state and national recognition. JHS has been selected to the state UIL Marching Band competition two of the last three years. They were Grand National Finalists at Bands of America, and the Wind Ensemble earned 5th place in the TMEA Honor Band Competition this year.
