Donate a Fan. Keep Senior Citizens cool this summer

Summer months have arrived which means very high temperatures and humidity in San Antonio. Seniors living in homes without air conditioning or circulating air face a greater risk of heat-related injuries and fatalities during the summer.
The City of San Antonio and community/corporate partners have coordinated Project Cool to provide heat relief to senior residents 60 years of age and older across the city through donation and free distribution of 20-inch box fans to seniors in need.

It's never to late to start a fitness resolution and what better way than to do it TODAY. June 5 is National Running Day. National Running Day is an annual holiday held on the first Wednesday in June.
It’s a creative way to bring together communities of people who love to run and to promote running and the benefits of an active lifestyle. It’s also an opportunity for runners to declare their passion for running and celebrate all the reasons they are active!

Reagan High School gears up for Project Graduation

This week 600+ Seniors from Ronald Reagan High School will be crossing the stage closing one chapter and ready to begin another.
The safety of these graduates is very important to the Reagan PTA, which is why they have come up with a way a fun and safe way to celebrate graduation.
It's called Project Graduation, an all-night alcohol and drug free party exclusively for Reagan High School Seniors and their families. This lock-in, will take place the night of graduation, Friday June 7 at 11:30p.m to 5 a.m at Main Event located at 1911 N. Loop 1604 East.
SAWS Agrees to Settlement with EPA to Curb Sewer Spills

San Antonio Water System agreed today to invest an additional $492 million in infrastructure and maintenance to reduce sewer spills in San Antonio under a settlement, or Consent Decree, with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
Residents invited to stay active and fit during the summer swim season

San Antonio residents will enjoy more opportunities to stay active and fit when the City’s Parks and Recreation Department’s 24 outdoor pools open for the summer swim season on June 15.
According to the City of San Antonio monthly newsletter, Admission to all 24 outdoor pools is free. Hours of operation at 19 outdoor pools are 1 – 7 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. Pools will be closed on Monday.

Stay connected with FEMA by signing up for their safety tips text messages. To prepare you and your family, FEMA will send safety tips for specific disaster types, and also send text messages for open shelters and open disaster recovery centers, in case a disaster does strike.
All FEMA text messages are sent from our dedicated number, which is 43362 (4FEMA).

Former NFL Quarterback hosts camp

How would you like to have your son trained by a former NFL Quarterback?
Stone Oak Athletics is presenting a Quarterback and Wide Receiver Camp hosted by Ty Demter. The former Heisman Trophy Winner and 14 year NFL Veteran will be training kids ages 9-15 to improve their power and accuracy, develop their QB/WR mechanic and increase their field awareness.
Currently, SOA Is accepting 30 Quarterbacks and 15 Wide Receivers. The camp will take place June 24 through june 26 at Brooks City Base Health and Wellness Center (2860 Louis Bauer Dr) from 9 a.m to 2p.m.
Kids Camp comes to Paint Palooza

Does your children have an artistic side in them? Have you been wanting to find a place where they can put their painting skills into use? Paint Palooza is holding a "Kids Camp" June 10 through June 14.
For 3 hours, kids ages 6 to 9 are invited to come and enjoy all that Paint Palooza has to offer.
The following is a schedule of painting activities kids will be doing:

– painting the Dragonfly (from the Flutter series) on canvas

Summer Recreation Program at Lopez Middle School

Even through the school year is winding down, Lopez Middle School wants to make sure their students keep active during the summer months with their Summer Recreational Program.
The program will run from June 17 to July 11 from 8 am till Noon. Incoming 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who live in the Lopez attendance area are allowed to participate.
SA Talons to air Reality TV Series

There will be a special treat for fans of the San Antonio Talons starting Saturday, June 8.
According to the San Antonio Business Journal, San Antonio Talons owner and local entrepreneur David Lynd says the Arena Football League team will partner with CBS affiliate KENS-TV, which will air a new reality television series titled “Guts & Glory.”
