Canyon Ridge Elementary to honor librarian

Canyon Ridge Librarian Beverly "Bev" Golden will celebrate her 20th anniversary as a librarian in NEISD this month. During her 20 years, she has been a librarian at Northwood Elementary School, Huebner Elementary School and most recently at Canyon Ridge. In 2004, she was honored as NEISD's Elementary Teacher of the Year.

Fraud targeting senior citizens and their caregivers is a growing concern as thousands have fallen victim to scammers. As of Aug. 1, the Better Business Bureau serving Central, Coastal and Southwest Texas reports an 11 percent increase in complaints from seniors compared to 2009.

Cibolo Green Elementary: It's good to be green

On Monday, Aug. 23, 790 students will pour into Cibolo Green Elementary School, North East ISD’s first ‘green’ campus. Part of the 2007 Bond Package, the 122,634-square-foot campus will include all the necessities of a standard elementary school, including 45 classrooms with workrooms and book storage, a computer lab, pull-out classrooms, library and media center, two gyms and more. However, the manner in which these components have been incorporated into the construction is how the campus earned its ‘green’ title.
