Free Health Screening Program- District 9

Councilwoman

 Residents of the District 9 area will have an opportunity to get free health screenings. In an annoucement made on the District 9 website, Councilwoman Elisa Chan said her office has extended a free health screen program. The program is to increase awareness of health issues that most often affect senior citizens.

Throughout the month of April, which is Parkinson's Awareness Month, seniors can get free health screenings from 9 to 11 a.m every Monday and Tuesday at Parkhills Baptist Church located at 17747 San Pedro Ave. (southwest corner of U.S 281 and Loop 1604).

In a press conference held earlier this morning, Police Chief William McManus and Fire Chief Charles Hood announced the details for the inaugural “Fiesta de los Jefes” Public Safety fair.

The YMCA is hosting Siclovia, a free event that is open to the public and is dedicated to physical activity.

Lopez Middle School Principal Dr. Barry Lanford has been named Principal of the Year by The Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) Region 20. Lopez Assistant Principal Pete Darnall has been named Assistant Principal of the Year.
