Lopez Middle School welcomes new mascot

The faculty and student body of Lopez Middle School are feeling even more "pep in their step" with the arrival of their first mascot. The still unnamed panther made his debut at Panther Prowl and the Lopez Marketplace Aug. 18. The staff and students were all smiles and were excited that he was finally here, since they had voted to get a mascot the previous spring.

Reagan High offers math prep courses Aug. 9-13

 Reagan High School will offer Algebra II Prep, Pre-Cal Prep, and Calculus Prep for interested students Aug. 9-13.

Bush initiates Read It Forward program

In honor of National Library Week, Bush Middle School will initiate a school-wide reading program called Read It Forward. Beginning Monday, April 12, 50 copies of Gordon Korman’s book, “Schooled,” will be hidden throughout campus. Students who find a copy will be instructed to read the book, then pass it on to a friend or classmate. 
 

Reagan choirs sweep UIL competition

The Reagan High School choirs walked away with numerous honors at the UIL Concert and Sight Reading contest earlier this month.  Achieving their goal of excellence, the choristers even earned sweepstake wins to the absolute delight of the high school’s Fine Arts Department and choir directors Jo Scurlock-Dillard and Mary Cowart.

Green Fields Market near Stone Oak Parkway and Huebner Road is inviting students from local schools to design the grocery’s next reusable tote bag.  Submissions must be received by April 16 and the winner will be announced during a special ceremony on Earth Day, April 22.

Wilderness Oak Elementary sells hearts for Haiti

Hearts for Haiti

Wilderness Oak Elementary School has organized a "Hearts for Haiti" campaign to help victims of the recent earthquake. Students, faculty and the community may purchase a Valentine heart for $1.  All proceeds, as well as the hearts and special messages, will be delivered to the American Red Cross Feb. 11.

2010 MLK Scholarship applications available

The 2010 Martin Luther King, Jr., Scholarship application is now available. High school seniors who plan to pursue a college degree and are looking for financial assistance are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be a graduating senior attending a high school within Bexar County.
