Johnson ROTC Rifle Team qualifies for nationals

The "Lady Bird" Johnson High School Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) Air Rifle Team (Precision) has qualified to shoot in the 2012 Army JROTC Air Rifle National Championships in Anniston, Alabama Feb. 9 - 11.

Johnson High Golf Team sets new record

It was a record-setting day for the Johnson High School Golf Team in Ft. Worth. The Jaguar Varsity Boys Team played in one of the largest high school events in the country, the Bart Granger Memorial. This event plays host to 51 teams, most from Texas with a few out-of-state teams from Arizona.

Johnson places 8th in "Super Bowl" of marching bands

Last month the Johnson High School Band made history.  Despite opening just four years ago, Johnson High was able to secure a great achievement by being named a Bands of America Grand National Finalist during a two-day nationwide competition in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Lopez Band shatters school records

Lopez Middle School band members competed in the Region 12 Band competition recently and shattered several school records. Lopez had the highest mark of chairs earned in the entire region. Lopez earned 38 total chairs in region band and 13 total in region orchestra. Lopez earned seven first chairs and 5 second chairs. All are new Lopez records.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has announced four more local winners of scholarships financed by colleges and universities.  Johnson High’s Lauren Hierholzer and Mary Harris both received a National Merit Baylor University Scholarship.  Harris is interested in pursuing a career in medicine/biology.  H
